SARIKEI: The body of an unidentified man was found floating in Sungai Rajang near Express Boat Terminal 2 here, yesterday afternoon.
Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Mahmudin Narudin in a statement today said they received a distress call on the incident around 2.47pm.
Five Bomba personnel, led by operation commander PBKII Mohsen, were immediately despatched to the scene.
“The unidentified body was found by members of the public who were just passing by the scene around 2pm.
“They then report the incident to the authorities before firemen arrived at the scene,” he said.
Mahmudin added the deceased was discovered naked and laying on its back roughly 4km from Express Boat Terminal 2.
“The body was then handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
The operation was also assisted by the Sarawak River Board and police.
