MUKAH: Mara has increased its funding for entrepreneurial businesses in Mukah to RM2.9 million as of this month compared to RM2 million for the whole of last year.
Mara deputy director-general (Entrepreneur), Datuk Zulfikri Osman said this is because of
encouraging increase in entrepreneurial activity especially in the
suburbs of Mukah.
“We provided various loans in 2018 amounting to RM2 million to entrepreneurs and businesses in Mukah.
“This year, we have increased the funding to RM2.9 million up to August because of the positive response from local entrepreneurs,” he told reporters after opening a Mara entrepreneurs premises here yesterday.
He said the financing was to help business-owners and entrepreneurs grow their businesses and move forward.
According to him, Mara is a leading agency in entrepreneurship development among the people.
“This includes developing three key elements: human capital
(entrepreneur), industry or business and facilities development.
“In addition, various forms of structured training are provided to enable entrepreneurs to become more established,” he said.
He urged entrepreneurs under the guidance of Mara to sell their products in a wider market.
“I also encourage entrepreneurs under Mara to market their products to big
supermarkets like Tesco, Giant, Mydin and more,” he said.
Also present were Sarawak Mara director Dr Azni Amat Murjan and his deputy director Timelow Jauk.
