KAPIT: Mara launched an online sale for unique local handicraft. Mara senior deputy director in-charge of entrepreneurship, Datuk Zulfikli Osman officiated at the event.
The ‘Kapit Handicraft Now In Digital’ promotion was also held to coincide with his visit to Rumah Richard Engking, Sungai Amang, Jalan Selirik here, yesterday.
Accompanying him for the visit were Sarawak Mara director Dr Azmi Amat Murjan, assistant
director Timelow Jauk, Kapit Mara officer Senorita Lokie and Mara
officials from Kuala Lumpur and Giat Mara Kuching as well as participants.
Zulfikli disclosed that this year, Mara allocated RM830,000 for 36 courses attended by some 1,200
entrepreneurs to venture into business.
He said among the courses offered included the handicraft development course held at Rumah Richard Engking from June 19 to 21.
The course attracted 26 participants who were recipients of Mara financial aid and raw materials for the handicrafts. Among the course objectives are to guide the participants in promoting and marketing their products online, reaching out to not only local clients but also abroad.
Zulfikli added that apart from helping entrepreneurs, Mara also works closely with Kapit Giat Mara to provide training for school dropouts.
Among the courses provided are welding, tailoring and automotive.
