KUALA LUMPUR: Consumers International has announced the election of Datuk Dr Marimuthu Nadason, president of the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca), as its new president.
In an announcement on its website, Consumers International said Gilly Wong, chief executive of Consumer Council in Hong Kong, was elected as vice-president of Consumers International.
“Elections were held at the Consumers International General Assembly, which took place at the Consumers International World Congress in Portugal last week.
“A new president, Board and Advisory Council were elected. Marimuthu replaces outgoing Consumers International president, Bart Combee,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Marimuthu said his election as president is a great honour for him.
“In this current era of digital economy, I look forward to working with members and partners to support consumers all over the world,” he said. – Bernama
