MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Branch Blood Donor Recruitment Committee and Moving Communities Team are jointly organising a blood donation drive to celebrate International Women Day on Sunday (March 19).

The event will take place from 8.30 am to 1 pm at the MRC Miri Branch in Jalan Bulan Sabit.

Chairman of MRC Blood Donation Recruitment Committee Karambir Singh stated that blood donation is a simple and powerful way to save lives.

He said this event is an opportunity for the community to come together and make a difference.

“Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages and backgrounds receive life-saving treatments. However, there is always a need for more donors and that is why events like these are so important.

“We hope that the community will come out in force to support this importance cause. By donating blood, you can make a difference in someone’s life and help ensure that our community has the blood supply it needs,” he said in a statement yesterday.

To participate in a blood donation drive, donors must be aged between 18 and 60 years, weighs at least 45kg and be in good health.

New blood donors are also encouraged to donate blood and they can expect a safe as well as comfortable experience.

“Donors should also bring their identification document and drink plenty of fluids before donating. The International Women’s Day Blood Donation Drive promises to be a meaningful and impactful event, we encourage everyone to come out and donate blood.

“You donation could help to save a life,” he added.
