Offences included not having a valid licence or road tax for their motorcycles and not wearing a safety helmet.

Marudi police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib said a total of 33 motorcycles were inspected during the two-hour operation dubbed Ops Didik/Ops Khas Traffik Marudi, which started at 12.50pm.

“It was carried out to create awareness among students about the importance of complying with all traffic regulations,” he said.

The police also advised parents to play their role and take responsibility to ensure the safety of children who use vehicles to go to school.
