MARUDI: Heavy rainfall since late Tuesday (Mar 22) evening has resulted in several villages here being flooded.
Some of the roads in Marudi town itself were affected knee-high water.
Yesterday morning (Mar 23), Marudi police led by Inspector Erwin Geofrry Ussan were mobilised to the affected areas to monitor the situation.
“Based on our observation the floodwater level has risen compared to yesterday (Monday),” said Erwin.
Villagers at four affected villages, namely Kampung Narum, Kampung Baru, Kampung Dagang and Kampung Nakhoda were reminded to be on high alert and constantly be in touch with the authorities.
“The floods occurred because the Baram River overflowed its banks following heavy rainfall since Monday,” said Erwin.
