PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad has been appointed as the Principal Private Secretary to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin effective March 1, the Prime Minister’s Office announced today.
Marzuki, 46, began his career as a lecturer at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1999 before being appointed as special officer to Muhyiddin when the latter served as deputy prime minister from 2009 to 2013, and as Muhyiddin’s political secretary when he was the Education Minister from 2013 to 2015.
In 2015, Marzuki went back to lecturing in IIUM as an Associate Professor and the last post he held was the head of the Political Science Department.
He returned to serve as Muhyiddin’s special functions officer when the latter was appointed as Home Minister in 2018.
Marzuki holds a law degree from IIUM, a Master’s degree in political science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a PhD, also in political science, from Australian National University. – Bernama
