KUCHING: Fifty four students participated in the MaSCo Explorace 2019 at the State Library here yesterday.
According to the programme director cum lecturer of Kuching Polytechnic Ruzaihan Jaffar, there were three activities which involved mathematics, science and the computer.
“The activities include bottle-flipping, a book search using mobile phones through Augmented Reality (AR) system as well as mathematics games,” he said.
“The students were divided into groups of three and each group had to solve tasks in each activity,” he added.
Ruzaihan also stated, “These activities would encourage the students to execute their ideas and understanding in the three fields.
“Moreover, these activities exposed the students to mathematics, science and the computer in their daily lives and not just as academic subjects in their respective campuses,” he continued.
The third year event was organised by the Department of Mathematics, Science and Computer, Kuching Polytechnic in collaboration with the State Library.
Students from other polytechnics, Community Colleges, Institute of MARA Skills (IKM) and the Sarawak Industrial Training Institute (ILP) were also invited to the event.
The event lasted from 9am until 5pm.
Also present were the Kuching Polytechnic Department of Mathematics, Science and Computer director Othman Mokhtar and the State Library representative Dayang Najwa Hazwani Awang Zaini.
