KUCHING: The construction of the Baleh Dam project costing RM9 billion which will begin in October this year is expected to boost the economy in the Kapit Division.
This was pointed out by Deputy Chief Minister who is also Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing when he accompanied a delegation from China Gezhouba Group Co Ltd for a courtesy call to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg at the Chief Minister’s office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petrajaya, Kuching on Wednesday.
According to Masing, the construction of the Baleh Dam project is expected to take eight years to complete and during the period it will provide over 3,500 job opportunities to the locals.
In this regards, Masing, who is also Baleh State Assemblyman hoped that the people around Kapit will grab the job opportunities.
The purpose of the courtesy call led by China Gezhouba Group Co Ltd’s International Business Director, Feng Jun was to explain to the Chief Minister how the Baleh Dam will be constructed.
China Gezhouba Group Co Ltd is a world-renowned dam construction company and experienced in building dam similar to the construction of the Baleh HEP Dam in Kapit.
