KUCHING : Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing has expressed his gladness that a Sarawak Member of Parliament (MP) from the rural constituencies of Selangau and Be’kelalan has been appointed as the Minister of Works.
He was commenting on the swearing in of Selangau MP, Baru Bian as Works Minister and Stampin, Chong Chieng Jen as Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
Baru, said Masing , would understand the need and the urgency to build more infrastructure in rural Sarawak.
“I am looking forward to working wth him to build more roads and bridges in Sarawak to allow for rapid development in the rural areas! My heartiest congratulations to him.”
“Chong is the most suitable MP for the Ministry. It’s my hope that he will check that prices of goods, including petrol, remain as they were prior to the 14th General Election. I hope the prices of goods don’t go up as Pakatan Harapan had promised in its manifesto,” he added.
