KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said the current “topsy-turvy” state of Malayan politics is the result of ambition for political positions.
Masing, who is Infrastructure Development and Transportation Minister, said the acts of these political leaders were just for
the purpose of obtaining
positions.
“These politicians are willing to do it by crawling and pushing each other through the sewerage of gutter politics,” said Masing, who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president.
Masing was asked to comment on the ongoing rift between PKR’s president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
“It’s a great shame and an embarrassment. If this is what Malaysia Baru is all about, I feel very malu (ashamed),” said Masing to the New Sarawak Tribune.
He added that politicians of such character were not good for the nation, especially for people who wanted to see this nation governed by honest, sincere, and dedicated political leaders.
“Politics is a tool to serve the people and is not a venue for political bickering, nor is it an arena for those who wish to belittle each other,” added Masing.
He said that his party (PRS) could never read or comprehend Malayan politics.
“They seem to be more interested in fighting for positions rather than how to improve the people’s livelihood.
“It is a wrong principle, thus I am not interested in what is happening in Malaya,” he said.
