KAPIT: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing who is also the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation recently presented grants amounting to RM2,610,700 to 155 recipients.
They comprised 125 village security development and development committees (JKKKs) and 30 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local clubs and associations held at various locations here.
The presentation was held at his residence along Jalan Bukit Goram that involved the NGOs, local clubs and associations around Kapit town areas. Earlier he also presented part of the grant in Kuching and at Rumah Gendang at Nanga Puro, Sungai Gaat, Baleh in Kapit district that was also held with the ‘ngiling bidai’ and the commissioning of the water tank system of the said longhouse.
According to Masing when met after the grant presentation ceremony, the grant was the first phase being giving out this year to benefit JKKKs under his Baleh state constituency as well as the NGOs, local clubs and associations in Kapit and Kuching.
He pointed out that those JKKKs that are left out in the first phase of the grant allocation will be given under phase II and phase III of the grant presentation ceremonies to be held later this year to ensure that no single JKKK especially in his constituency is left out.
Present at the grant presentation ceremony were Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong Punan, Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga, Kapit Police chief DSP Freddy Bian, Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo, Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Daniel Dian, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo, Kapitan Kong Cheak Hie, Principal of SMK Selirik Jarit Jamit, heads of the various government departments and village headmen.
