KAPIT: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing recently presented grants under his Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund amounting to RM475, 500 to 36 local bodies.
The bodies comprised Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKs), Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), associations and sports and recreational clubs in Baleh Constituency.
The simple presentation ceremony was held at the conference room of the State Office Complex here on Monday morning.
At the function, Masing also presented cash assistance to four students who were furthering their studies. They received RM1000 each.
Two Chinese associations, Kapit Chiang Chuan Association and Kapit Kwang Tung Association, were among the grant recipients. Each association received RM10,000 respectively.
Speaking at the function, Masing pointed out that with the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, the MPKKP was no longer relevant.
He called on the people to give their full support to the JKKK.
Commenting on the new federal government, Masing explained that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had invited GPS to form the new government.
He stressed that GPS was not part of the Perikatan Nasional.
“Sarawak is independent. The new prime minister invited GPS to be in his cabinet. We support him for political stability and peace. We look towards the new prime minister to pay back the 5 percent sales tax on the export of petroleum and petroleum products from Petronas’ operation in Sarawak and to restore our rights and privileges enshrined in the MA63,” said Masing.
Among those present at the function were Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, a political secretary to the chief minister of Sarawak Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Kapit Resident Nyurak Keti, Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang, Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut and Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga.
