KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh is not sincere in his intentions and now his true character has surfaced, says Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing.

“Even when he declared full support for Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari (Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg), I did not believe him.

“My sympathies to those who believe in him,” he said on Tuesday (Sept 8).

His response was in reference to Wong’s recent statement, in which he hit back at Abang Johari over his comment that the party was composed of disgruntled politicians.

Masing said that when United People’s Party — which PSB was formerly known as — was formed as a breakaway party of Sarawak United People’s Party, he was not in favour of such a move as it would break the unity of parties in Sarawak.

He said at the time, Sarawak was still under Barisan Nasional, and thereafter under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“However, a few of my colleagues in GPS thought my comments were not necessary and criticised me for it. I knew UPP then PSB are not good for our unity in Sarawak.”

Abang Johari at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu northern region mini convention in Miri last Saturday had mentioned a number of earlier disputes between PSB members and GPS component party presidents before defecting to PSB.
