KUCHING: Following a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the nation, it can be seen that many have started using face masks to prevent themselves from being infected by the virus.
In fact, some have also reinstalled the MySejahtera application to get updates on the development of the virus around them.
As such, New Sarawak Tribune has met with the public to get their views on the use of face masks due to the drastic increase in the COVID-19 cases.
HASHIM LUBOK, 63, Retiree
Personally, the use of face masks needs to be implemented again following the recent spike in COVID-19 cases. Therefore, I support if this implementation is re-enforced. Same goes to the use of the MySejahtera application because users will be able to get valid information and update on the cases around us.

There is no denying that COVID-19 cannot be eradicated and has become a new norm for us. It is undeniable that even if we use face masks, we may still be infected through physical contacts. Therefore, I urge everyone to continue to be vigilant and take care of themselves during these times.
PIAT AKAU, 40, Nurse
The use of a face mask depends on the conditions of the place. If you are in a crowded place such as a shopping mall, then it is encouraged to use it. If you are walking in the park and so on, you can choose to not use it. To be honest, I have also reinstalled the MySejahtera application to update myself with the development of this virus. I hope that the cases that are surging will not cause us to be in another lockdown.
CLAUDIA LIENNY, 29, Nurse
If you have a weak antibody, I recommend you to use a face mask when you are outside to defend yourself from the virus. This is especially needed as Christmas is nearing. With the usage of face masks, at least we are able to stop the spread of cases from increasing.
