KUCHING: A viral message that all passengers in a car who are not from the same households must wear face masks is fake, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
He shared a screenshot of the message on his Facebook page and urged the people to stop spreading the fake message.
“In this time of crisis, no time to fool around. There is already tremendous suffering and misery.
“We don’t need fake news for fun, to cause more panic, fear, or unnecessary stigma. Have a heart, empathy and be helpful to everyone so that together we shall overcome Covid-19 pandemic,” he said on Saturday.
Dr Sim urged the public to not simply forward the fake message. Instead, they should check with the right source first.
