KUCHING: Four masked men broke into a house in Selalang Tondong, near Bau at about 2.30 am yesterday and robbed the occupants of cash and properties.

Bau Police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the four, one armed with a machete, woke up the house owner aged 34 and his sister telling then to keep quiet or they would be killed.

The robbers tied their feet with ropes and gagged them before ransacking the house. They left in a grey Honda City car belonging to the house owner who operates a crop nursery, several mobile phones and cash amounting to about RM1,000.

After the robbers left, the house owner and his sister freed themselves of their bonds and went to lodge a report on the incident at Bau police station.

Poge said initial investigations revealed that the robbers are locals. Police are on the hunt for the robbers and the get-away car.
