KANOWIT: A 16-foot-long python was discovered hiding inside a chicken coop behind a house at Jalan Panto Mali here today (Jan 28).
The homeowner made a startling discovery when he observed the slithery reptile coiled up in the coop, prompting him to contact the authorities for assistance around 9.40 am.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firemen from the Kanowit station were promptly dispatched to the scene.
The team subdued and captured the python using a snake tong within six minutes.
Following the capture, the reptile was released back into its natural habitat, away from residential areas.
The team concluded the operation at 9.55 am.
