KUCHING: The Matang District Scout Council (MPDM) paid a courtesy call on Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, who is also the MPDM president, on yesterday (Feb 2).

The delegation was led by Matang District Scout Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abol, aimed to brief Fazzrudin about the activities and programmes in Matang for this year.

Abdul Rahim explained that last year, Matang District saw 36 primary and secondary schools with a total of 549 students and 50 teachers registering as scout members.

He wanted to increase the number of membership registrations this year with cooperation from all members of the council.

Fazzrudin requested that all MPDM members give their full commitment to helping scout leaders develop the movement such as interacting with parents to encourage their children to join up.

“By joining the scout, it can offer benefits to children from various aspects through the building of good character, discipline, behaviour, integrity, patriotism, perseverance and so on,” said Fazzrudin.
