KUCHING: The 16th Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair is finally back after a two-year lull caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The fair will be held simultaneously on Aug 6-7 from 10am to 9pm at the Boulevard shopping mall in Kuching and Permaisuri Imperial City Mall in Miri.
It will be officially launched at the Boulevard mall in Kuching and admission is free.
MATTA Chairman Oscar Choo said due to the pandemic and the cost involved the fair will only be held over two days unlike previously when it was on for three days.
“Consumers normally come to the show and book their destinations and travel packages on the very last day, so why not just have it for two days instead,” he said during the press conference at MATTA Sarawak Chapters’ office in Kuching on Yesterday (July 4).
In the meantime, Choo noted that some travellers are not too keen to travel far.
“That being said, there will be destinations such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam which will perhaps be among the best selling destinations during the fair.
“I also heard from some of the members that domestic destinations such as Sabah and Langkawi will most likely be among the best selling destinations at the fair itself,” he added.
He said 48 members would be participating in the fair in Kuching and 20 in Miri.
