KUCHING: Gunung Mulu National Park will be featured in the upcoming Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Kuala Lumpur on Sept 2 – 4.
The 51st edition of the event with over 514 booths will be held at the World Trade Centre (WTC).
Gunung Mulu National Park manager Hein Gerstner said this is the first time the national park is participating in the biggest consumer travel fair.
“The tourism industry is one of the most affected sectors due to the COVID-19.
“After two years of movement control order (MCO) and with borders finally reopening, the national park has been receiving many visitors from around the world including Malaysians.
“The MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur is targeting over 80,000 visitors, and we are proudly representing Sarawak’s tourism sector to enliven the event,” he told New Sarawak Tribune on Saturday (Aug 27).
The Gunung Mulu National Park is offering a three days two nights package for Malaysians at RM524 per person and RM888 for two persons which is inclusive of accommodation, tours, meals, and airport transfer.
On Day One, visitors will arrive in Mulu via a morning flight and proceed to check in at the Rainforest Lodge.
They would have lunch before proceeding with the Deer and Lang Caves Tours including Bat Exodus at 2.30pm to 6.30pm then dinner at 7pm.
As for Day Two, visitors will have their breakfast at 7.30am before going to the clearwater cave and cave of the winds tour at 9.15am to 12.30pm.
They will also get to visit the Batu Bungan handicraft market and swim at the clear water pool followed by lunch, a free and easy afternoon and dinner at 6.30pm followed by a night walk tour at 7pm to 9.30pm.
On Day Three, visitors would have their breakfast then enjoy some free and easy time before checking out to depart to Mulu airport for a morning or noon flight.
Gerstner encouraged nature lovers and adventurous hikers to visit the national park’s booth at MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur to get more information on the packages offered for Malaysians.
