SIBURAN: A mattress and several pieces of furniture inside a room of a house at Taman Beverly, Mile 13, were burnt in a fire this morning.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Siburan station were despatched to the scene, about 19km from the station, after receiving a distress call around 11.45 am.
Upon arrival, they confirmed the incident and found that the fire did cause 20 per cent damage to the room.
Extinguishing works were later carried out using water sourced from the fire engine.
No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident as seven tenants managed to get out to safety.
After ensuring that the situation was safe, the team wrapped up the operation at 12.40 pm and headed back to their station.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
