Maurien displayed exceptional skill and ferocity in her women’s 48-51kg muay thai final against Kelantan’s Nur Faqina Dullia Adrea Zaratul Ihram, leaving the audience in awe.
From the very start, her performance was nothing short of spectacular. The first round saw her take an overwhelming lead, with a score of 11-1, as she relentlessly pressured her opponent, giving her little room to recover.
Each jab was delivered with precision and power, drawing gasps from the crowd and catching the attention of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Deputy Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu and Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO Awang Putra Yusrie, who were on their feet in excitement.
Maurien’s skillful dodging and powerful punches kept her Kelantan opponent on the defensive throughout the match.
