KUCHING: Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom yesterday (Jun 6) presented funds amounting to RM25,000 to the Scouts Association of Malaysia Sarawak branch.
The cheque was handed to the Executive Committee chairman of the Sarawak Scout Council, Peter Chai Mui Seng, during a luncheon meeting at a local restaurant.
The allocated funds will support ongoing rebuilding efforts for the association.
During the handover ceremony, Mawan expressed his desire for the Scouts to engage in more activities, making scouting an attractive option for youths.
He also highlighted the importance of various skill activities in the Scouts’ training schemes, which is useful to prepare young people for a better future.
Despite this contribution, it is understood that additional funds are still required to upgrade some of the essential facilities needed for scout training.
