KUCHING: In commemoration of World Children’s Day yesterday (Nov 20), Maxim E-hailing organised a day-long programme in Kota Samarahan, Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, and Sibu.
The programme, conducted at primary schools, involved pupils from Standard 1 to Standard 6.
A team of police officers, in collaboration with the Maxim team, held talk sessions on road safety, shared tips, explained signboard information, and recounted experiences with road-related incidents.
One of the programme’s highlights was its potential to save lives by teaching children road safety awareness and how to implement the knowledge shared in real-life situations.
Furthermore, Maxim donated special traffic signs with messages like “Slow Down” to protect children crossing streets near schools. The contributions also included banners, signboards, notebooks, and benches.
The event ran from 7 am to 12 noon and featured various activities, including speeches, games, colouring contests, talk sessions, road-themed board games, and traffic regulation quizzes.
“Sharing knowledge with the younger generation and educating them early is crucial. They can apply these lessons in their daily routines. During the session, we noticed that many pupils walk to school, so programmes like this can significantly benefit them. It was a great opportunity for us to participate and share knowledge,” said Sergeant Rhonny Siau Aik Fang, Traffic Police personnel from Bintulu Police Headquarters (Bintulu IPD).
“We are proud to have hosted this special event in celebration of Children’s Day, bringing joy and smiles to the young ones in our community. This occasion allowed us to give back and create a memorable experience for children and their families. It reflects our commitment to community engagement and fostering happiness beyond our e-hailing services,” said Mohd Hazwan Musley, Director of Maxim Malaysia.
Over 2,000 children participated in the celebration and experienced the joy and excitement of this special day.
Maxim also prepared gifts for each child, including items requested by the school management, such as food, stationery kits, books, and safety equipment.
“As the Principal of SR Sri Mawar, I am very excited and honoured to have collaborated with Maxim and the Miri Traffic Police to celebrate International Children’s Day.
“Pupils were exposed to road safety awareness through engaging activities, including talks by local traffic officers on safety measures,” said Roslawati Ahmad.
The happiness and success of younger generations are vital as they shape the future. Maxim hopes that this programme provided new knowledge and valuable exposure to the children.
