The junior colouring contest, held virtually from April 25 to 29, had attracted a total of 891 students from 35 primary schools.

The winners, he added, as well as the winners in the poster and quiz competitions would receive their prizes during the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day Celebration 2022 on May 8.

Chua explained that many activities had been planned in conjunction in line with the theme for this year’s celebration, “Be humane, kind. Believe in the power of kindness.”

“We know the world can feel tough and scary right now. These past months and years have been marked by multiple crises that have spared no one and have hit the most vulnerable people the hardest — from COVID-19 to the climate crisis, humanitarian emergencies and escalating conflicts.

“But despite this, there is so much hope and humanity to be found in the form of acts of kindness.

Acts of kindness are all around us. No matter how big or small, they make a huge difference in people’s lives,” he stated in a media statement yesterday.
