SIBU: Maybank is closing its Sibu Central branch for two days starting yesterday (March 16) to allow a thorough cleaning and sanitisation process to be done
The bank in a statement said the move was necessary as an employee was exposed to an external person who tested positive for Covid-19.
“This process is being undertaken as part of the bank’s stringent precautionary measures to protect the health and wellbeing of its customers and employees at all times,” it said.
The branch will reopen tomorrow (March 18).
During the two-day closure, customers of Maybank Sibu Central branch may perform their banking transactions via Maybank’s online and mobile banking channels or at any other Maybank branch.
The nearest branch is the Sibu Branch located only 800 metres away at Sibu Branch in Kampung Nyabor Road and can be contacted at 084-332082, 084-332081, and 084-328473.
Maybank head of Community Financial Services Malaysia Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan said the safety of its employees and customers are their utmost priority.
“This precautionary measure we are taking is to ensure that any possible health risk is mitigated.
“We are working closely with the relevant health authorities to ensure that all health and safety protocols in this case are adhered to pending the test result of this employee,” he said.
As for the employees of the branch, he said they are currently on home leave while awaiting the completion of the sanitisation process and all health and safety protocols.
