MIRI: Miri City mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang has praised the city’s police personnel for their prompt and efficient action in detaining a suspect in a house break-in case at Pelita residential area here last Tuesday.
The crime reportedly occurred in the evening when the house owner was not at home.
The house owner reported losses amounting to RM38,000 due to the break-in.
The suspect, believed to be a drug addict and seasoned thief, was arrested less than 24 hours after the break-in.
Yii reminded the public to always be vigilant around their neighbourhoods.
“Should there be any suspicious characters found in their neighbourhood, they should immediately notify and give particulars to the police in order to prevent loss of their valuables,” he said.
