KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng is determined to explore the concept of Sustainable and Smart City that would benefit both MBKS and the city of Haikou, Hainan, China.

In a press release, it was announced that a courtesy call was held today (July 7) to discuss this matter.

Deputy Mayor Lu Min from Haikou Municipal People’s Government was briefed about Kuching city’s recognition as the City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

“We are excited about this recognition, and we believe it can create opportunities for Kuching products to be promoted in Haikou and other cities. We also aim to collaborate on important areas like the economy, culture, education, and tourism,” said Wee.
