KUCHING: The Chinese New Year (CNY) Festive Sale 2018 will be held for 14 days from Feb 2 to 15 at Kenyalang Park Commercial Centre Mall. Appl icat ion forms for the annual pre-CNY booths are already open and are limited to 250 approved traders.

As of Wednesday, Acting City Secretary of Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Tay Guan Huat said that there are 247 applications made already but none of it has been approved just yet.

“We will look into it as soon as possible. Spaces are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so if you want to get a booth, apply early,” said Tay during a press conference at MBKS building in Jalan Padungan on Wednesday. He added the forms can be obtained from the MBKS One Stop Service Counter D at MBKS Lobby and must be submitted on Jan 16, 2018 before 4pm. Each stall measures 4’x 8’ are charged at RM110 for members of the public and RM60 per stall for shop owners/ tenants for the two spaces in front or beside their shop.

Meanwhile, MBKS Mayor, Dato James Chan Khay Syn urged all participants to maintain highlevel of cleanliness at all times during the festive sale. “This should also be applied during normal business hours not just during festivals.

“To anyone who thinks they would have a lot of residue from their daily operations, another bigger recycling bin can be requested from Trienekens with minimal charges. “We want Kuching to be known for its cleanliness and we cannot do it alone.

So we also need the people to be cooperative in keeping the city a clean one,” said James. When asked about whether any license has been revoked from any traders during 2017, James denied of such thing as many of them would obey to instructions or warning made by the Health Department.

“It is a common practice, that the Health Department gives a 24- hour cleaning chance for any food premises prior to any licenses are revoked,” he pointed out.
