KUCHING: A total of 300 households received donations from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) through the We Care Society Programme partnering with Asic Mine Technology Company on Sunday (Jul 11).
MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the donation includes 300 packs of rice, 300 boxes of Lee Fah Mee, and 300 crates of eggs.
“The donation was made from the community’s donation daily basis funds towards MBKS, which we then utilised for charity,” he said.
“The objective of this programme is to assist those in need, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected many people as a result of losing their work or income.
“Recipients are mostly from the surrounding village area and a total of 150 households will get the donation.
“The remaining 150 will be distributed across rural areas in villages such as Kampung Lumba Kuda and others,” he added.

The mayor also stated that households that were unable to receive the donations on Sunday can write their names on a form provided by volunteers of We Care Society programme or approach their village heads and the village development and security committees (JKKKs).
“Some 300 coupons were given for this programme and for those who have not received the coupon they can fill out the form given or get recommendations from their village heads and JKKKs.
“Those unable to accept the donation need not worry since we will carry out the programme again on Thursday.”
