KUCHING: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) gave food packs and ang pow to 530 families at its Caring Society programme held near the KMC flats on Friday (Jan 28).

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng was delighted that even after two years into the pandemic, this tradition of helping the community was still strong.

“Let’s work together to make this a success, instead of relying on the government alone.

“As a caring society, we are all united regardless of race and religion, and this is what we would like to maintain in Sarawak.

“We should also bear in mind that there are still groups of people who are still suffering and need our help, therefore, let’s pour effort into building a successful caring society together.”

Wee also thanked the state government for giving MBKS a special fund for community purposes.

He also took the opportunity to wish the Chinese community a happy Chinese New Year.
