KUCHING: A recent act of kindness by two boys from Tabuan Jaya here in returning to the rightful owner a bag containing valuable items reflects their honesty and integrity, setting a good example for the community.
Dominic Nyuen, 16 years old, was with his sister when they noticed a black bag at Tabuan Park.
Dominic then seeks help from his 12-year-old friend, Evan Angelo, who went back to the park to find that the bag was still there.
Without opening the bag, the two boys handed it over to Tabuan Jaya Neighbourhood Watch (KRT). Subsequently, the bag was reunited with its owner.
Soon after that, the good deed drew the attention of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) which then presented its Certificate of Appreciation to the boys.
MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng praised the kids for their honesty and integrity.
“The kids are not from a rich background but their conscience is clear. As such, their honesty and integrity should be highlighted to inspire others and our community to do the same.
“The council was more than happy to give honour to people for such a simple act of kindness as these were the qualities and values that we all should be ingrained with. They are setting a good example for our community,” he said.
He also commended the Tabuan Jaya KRT for doing a good job which has also helped in inculcating good values and sense of belonging among the people.
Tabuan Jaya KRT chairman Datuk William Wei stated that he was very proud of the boys for doing so many things right from observing the bag in the park, getting help from a friend and then helped to return it to the rightful owner.
