MBKS spreads joy and blessings during Ramadan

KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) extended joy and blessings to asnaf children and mosques within its jurisdiction during the ‘Ihya Ramadan MBKS Bersama Komuniti 2024’ breaking of fast programme.

During the event at MBKS Community Hall yesterday (Mar 22), MBKS presented RM150 financial aid to approximately 200 asnaf children and RM700 each to 19 mosques and surau across Kuching.

The financial aid was presented by MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, aiming to foster unity, spirituality, and communal well-being throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The asnaf children were from Kampung Tabuan Tengah, Kampung Tabuan Hilir, Kampung Sungai Periok, Kampung Tabuan Lama, Kampung Tabuan Lot Ulu Dani, Kampung Tabuan Park, Kampung Kenyalang, Kampung Stuttong Melayu, Kampung Wan Alwi, Kampung Lumba Kuda, Kampung Simpang Tiga, Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman and Kampung Sri Maimunah.

The mosques and suraus receiving the financial aids were Masjid Darul Barakah, Masjid Darul Falah, Masjid Wan Alwi, Masjid Darussaadah, Masjid Darul Ittihad, Masjid Darul Akhirat, Surau Darul Ibadah, Surau Darut Hassan, Surau Nurul Hidayah, Surau Darussalam, Surau Darul Salihin, Masjid Darul Hajat, Surau Darul Hassanah (Dani), Surau Darul Cemerlang, Surau Darul Ibadah, Surau Al Mukhalis, Surau Darul Fattah, Masjid Al-Muhajidin, and Surau Darul Taqwa.

MBKS in a statement extended their heartfelt gratitude to sponsors including CCK Consolidated Holdings Berhad, Ibraco Berhad, Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd, Jurutera Minsar Consult Sdn Bhd, Serapi Hotel, Northmont Capital Sdn Bhd, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd, Sarawak Energy, Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) and Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd.

The council also extended their appreciation to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak for their in-kind contributions, including prayer carpets for each mosque and surau, as well as gifts for the asnaf children.

The Ramadan programme gathered MBKS councillors including Fadzillah Ahmadi Ali and Sufian Ateng, as well as Muslim community leaders, mosques and surau chairpersons.

Moreover, the asnaf children were joined by their guardians for the breaking of fast to celebrate Ramadan.

Also present at the event were MBKS deputy mayor Datuk Zaiedi Suhaili and programme organising chairman Councillor Dzamaluddin Zainudin.
