MIRI: A spouse of one of the staff at Miri City Council’s (MCC) administration department is positive for Covid-19.

The test was done on Monday, revealed Miri mayor Adam Yii today.

The staff concerned has been asked to undergo Covid-19 test as well by health authorities.

Upon receiving the report, the council’s management had immediately taken precautionary measures to close down the administration department.

Its staff were also asked to work from home from Jan 19 until the outcome of the test on the staff concerned is made known.

MCC will then follow the necessary standard operating procedures (SOP) depending on the outcome of the report.

Meanwhile, MCC will carry out sanitising work on all offices in the main building in Jalan Raja here.

All staff and visitors are required to adhere strictly to tightened SOPs.

Earlier, the office of the administration department was sanitised.

Yii appealed to the public, including staff, to remain calm and let the council’s health teams carry out the necessary precautionary action according to the advice from health authorities.
