MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) here is enforcing the use of face mask, cleanliness, food hygiene and the banning of Styrofoam food packaging.

It intensified inspections on food outlets in connection with conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedure (SOP) guidelines and licensing compliance.

Through its Public Health Section, MCC issued two notices to all licensed food operators under its jurisdiction regarding compliance of the stated requirements.

Among them, use of face mask when entering food premises for both food operators and customers, and maintaining cleanliness at the premises.

The use of proper attire is a must such as apron, headgear and proper shoes when preparing food while personal and food hygiene must be observed.

Food outlets were reminded on the ban of Styrofoam or polystyrene as food and drinks packaging which had been in force since 2017. Failure to comply may result in the revocation of licence.

Action would also be taken against those who violate food outlet licensing conditions such as impound and compound.
