PUTRAJAYA: A public inquiry under the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 to review the mandatory standard for electromagnetic field emission from radio communications infrastructure — Determination Number 1 of 2010 (MS for EMF) will be held from today until Sept 17.
According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the review is important in line with advancement of communication technology such as 5G, and in assuring the public that EMF field emission from radio communication infrastructure in the country is safe and being regulated effectively and efficiently.
“This review, among others, will cover the process of updating EMF exposure limits based on the latest guidelines of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO),” MCMC said in a statement.
As such, MCMC invites members of the public to participate in the public inquiry by making written submissions either in a hard copy or electronic copy.
All copies must be submitted to MCMC latest by 12 noon on Sept 17 and addressed to MCMC Menara 1, Jalan Impact, Cyber 6, 63000 Cyberjaya, Selangor or email tdd@mcmc.gov.my and fax to 03-8688 1000 and on the copies it must be stated Attention: Technology Development Department.
MCMC said it would give due consideration to the written submissions before releasing a report within 30 days after the public inquiry has ended.
