SRI AMAN: Delays in the collection of garbage were believed to have caused two rubbish bins with 660 litres capacity owned by the Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) to be ‘victims’ by some culprits here.
The incident was believed to have taken place on last Saturday night with both bins loaded with garbage in a village here being dumped by a certain party into the Batang Lupar River, at the Sri Aman waterfront.
“Garbage collector trucks were not in good working condition before the incident, causing the delay of three days from the original schedule thereby causing some garbage remained uncollected.
“However, the attitude of certain parties has caused the property of MDSA to become victims. We condemn their actions by throwing two rubbish bins into Batang Lupar River her ,” the sources said.
Such actions by the culprits had caused one of the rubbish bins to be lost after being swallowed by the strong river current and another was recovered by the MDSA personnel on early Sunday morning.
Sources say that such an incident should not happen as the action was taken by the party that did not investigate the real problem behind delays in garbage collection here.
“MDSA has provided the garbage disposal facility in order for the residents to be able to throw their garbage and thus would help maintain cleanliness in their placement.
“Therefore, we urge the residents here to always appreciate the convenience of this facility. If there is a problem with the garbage collection then please meet us first without damaging the property of the MDSA,” said the source.
