MIRI: A mechanic was arrested by police for allegedly punching and kicking a female parking warden in front of an eatery at Krokop here, last Friday morning.

Miri Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the incident occurred at around 10.44am when the 33-year-old victim issued a summons to the owner of a Honda City car for parking on a yellow line.

“Based on the victim’s complaint, prior to the incident she had asked and tried to look for the car owner before issuing the summons.

“However, a man who is also the car owner suddenly approached her and punched her left arm before kicking her left leg,” he said.

Stanley said as a result of the incident, the victim sustained bruises on her left arm and leg.

He said following the report, the 45-year-old man was detained by the police on the same day and taken to Miri Central Police Station for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to deter public servants from discharging their duties, he said.
