MUKAH: A mechanic’s attempt to hide drugs in a cigarette pack failed to save him from being arrested during a police raid here recently.

According to Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau, the 20-year-old suspect who is believed to be a drug dealer, was found hiding the drugs in his cigarette pack which was in his bag.

He said during an inspection at around 11.30am, the police found a transparent plastic package inside the cigarette pack. The plastic package contained a crystalline substance suspected to be syabu (methamphetamine) weighing 7.62g and worth RM1,500.

“The suspect told us that the supply was from Kuching and was sent to him by bus.

“A urine test, which was conducted on him after he was brought to the Mukah Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, also tested positive for methamphetamine,” Jimmy explained.

The case will be investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
