KUCHING: The Medan Niaga Satok here will be turned into an agrotourism destination where visitors can obtain food and agricultural products.
Visitors can also enjoy themselves with daytime and evening entertainment activities, notably in the existing fort area.
Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) Director-General Datuk Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli said this after his courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya yesterday.
The courtesy call was to discuss the authority’s projects and implementation in Sarawak with the Premier.
“The upgrading of Medan Niaga Satok will also be a catalyst for tourism development that is being implemented by the state government,” Zainal added.
Also present during the visit were Sarawak Minister of Agriculture Modernisation and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Serembu assemblyman cum FAMA Board Member Miro Simuh, FAMA Deputy Director General (Operations) Abdul Rashid Bahri, its Senior Director of Strategic Planning Wan Faizatul Aniza Ismayatim as well as Director of Marketing Institution Development Division Norsalawaty Abdul Kadir and Director of FAMA Sarawak Abdul Ja’afar Lian.
