KUCHING: A unique charity treasure using only the LRT and MRT lines as means of transportation was held by Prince Court Medical Centre (PCMC) called ‘PCMC Amazing Rail Hunt 2019’.
The initiative of the hunt was to raise funds for Lotus Care Centre Malaysia (Pusat Jagaan Lotus Malaysia) in Semenyih — a centre that acts as an orphanage and an old folks centre.
The funds will also be used to cover costs needed for the centre’s daily needs and monthly rental.
Participants of the treasure hunt comprised of PCMC’s business partners, members of the media and the general public.
PCMC is also looking to assist beyond monetary means, such as organising a gotong-royong session to give the centre a fresh coat of paint.
PCMC chief executive officer Chong Yee Mun said that it has always been at the heart of Prince Court Medical Centre’s values to give back to the community.
“Not only did we want to create something fun with a good cause that would allow us to better our relationship with our business partners, but we wanted to encourage the community to utilise the wonderful public facilities our country has to offer,” he said.
Chong also added that PCMC giving back to the community does not just stop at the centre.
“We are looking to identify more centres in the near future,” he said.
In total, about 13 teams walked away with prizes and there were 17 lucky draw winners.
At the prize-giving ceremony held at The Westin KL, team ‘2 Sneakies + 2 Innocents’ (from public participants) clinched first place; second place went to team ‘NTIK’ from TV3; and the team that came in at third place was team ‘Baru Nak Up’ from Bernama.
Lotus Care Centre Malaysia caretaker Sarah Thomas was also presented with a donation cheque.
