BATU NIAH: A mega-size mural painting themed with various uniqueness in the Subis district has been proposed.
This special item is to be set up here in Batu Niah.
Assistant Minister for Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Rosey Yunus who disclosed this on Friday, said the proposal to set up a mural painting is to rope in tourists to Batu Niah which is well known for its Niah Cave, waterfall and local delicacies.
“Two murals painted by local painters depicting the scenery of Niah Cave have managed to attract many visitors coming here during weekend,” said Rosey.
The mural painting has gone viral on social media and is one of the new attractions to revive the community business here.
Rosey, who is also Bekenu Assemblywoman, added she also had proposed for mural paintings to be done in Bekenu as well.
“We will find strategic location for mural paintings featuring various unique features found around Bekenu,” she added.
Also present during Rosey’s visit to the mural painting site in Batu Niah town were Subis district officer Jamalie Busri, Councillor William Thien from the Subis District Council and other dignitaries.
