MIRI: Two men with extensive criminal records were taken into custody in connection with a recent burglary case at Taman Tasconia Permyjaya here.
District police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, who confirmed the arrests, said the operation was conducted at around 7pm on Wednesday (Feb 17) by a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department.
“Police arrested two local men and confiscated the stolen items,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 18).
ACP Hakemal said the first subject, aged 22, admitted to being involved in the Feb 16 burglary case together with two other accomplices.
“The stolen items were then sold to the second subject, aged 50, which included a marble dining table set and a television cabinet for RM250.
“Following questioning, the second subject confirmed that he bought the stolen items from the first subject for a total of RM250.”
ACP Hakemal added that the two men had extensive criminal records, with the first subject having five previous offences and the second subject, 19.
