SIBU: The Sarawak indoor volleyball men’s team secured their second victory today (August 18) defeating Johor in Group A.
Sarawak made a strong start, with their spiker leading the team to win the first set 25-18, leaving Johor at a disadvantage.
Determined to prevent Sarawak from securing another win, Johor mounted a fierce comeback in the second set.
However, despite their best efforts, Johor was unable to change the outcome, with Sarawak taking the set 25-23.
The defeat left Johor disheartened, worsened by their middle blocker, Tang Swee Sheng, being shown a yellow card at the 19-21 point in the game.
Meanwhile, in the third set, Johor managed to bounce back, narrowly winning against Sarawak with a score of 25-23 to extend the match.
However, Sarawak was determined to seal the victory in the fourth set, overcoming Johor with a convincing 25-17 finish, dashing any hopes of a comeback.
The hard-fought match ended with Sarawak emerging victorious, 3-1.
Tomorrow (August 19) at 2pm, Sarawak will fight against Kedah for their third match in the group stages.
