SARIKEI: Residents extended their appreciation for Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii’s endeavours in fostering development in the Meradong area, addressing flood issues, and implementing diverse facilities that have proven beneficial to them.
On Tuesday (Nov 7), the Sarikei Service Centre, in collaboration with the Sarikei Division of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), conducted a ceremony to hand over the completed Meradong area project.
“The implementation of the ditch cleaning project on Kwong Hock-Kuong Hing Road, Sg Meradong/Bakong measuring 1,400m.
“The Chinese Cemetery Batu 3, Hulu Jalan Ming Tee/Jalan Paris Height 2 to Sungai Binatang measuring 6,840m.
“And the Tulai River, Jalan Tong Ah to Jalan Bukit Tunggu, Tulai measuring 4,000m has been fully completed, benefiting the local residents,” it said in a statement issued on Thursday (Nov 9).
Huang, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, who also serves as the Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, was represented by Gung Chiu Kion at the completion of the DID project at the three project sites.
The project, which commenced on Sept 18, was fully completed on Nov 6.
In a similar development, residents thanked Huang for providing school bags and a subsidy of RM100 for school uniforms and shoes to students in Meradong.
“They acknowledge his understanding of the challenges faced by parents, which helps alleviate the burden on families,” the statement said.
Also present were DID assistant engineer Faliana Mia.
