Merdeka Sarawak Adventure Convoy arrives in Mukah

KUCHING: Thirteen vehicles that were part of the Merdeka Sarawak Adventure Convoy, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sarawak Independence, arrived in Mukah on Tuesday (June 13). The convoy, which included a bus and a motorhome, consisted of a total of 60 participants.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi expressed his pleasure in welcoming the convoy to Mukah. “This programme, celebrated throughout Sarawak, is being held for the first time, and Mukah is the fourth division to receive the presence of the main convoy, along with the Bintulu Division Convoy.”

He thanked all those who were involved in making the celebration a success and emphasised the commitment and earnestness of all parties in commemorating 60 years of Sarawak Merdeka.

Abdul Yakub spoke at the Merdeka Sarawak Adventure Convoy Welcome Ceremony, which took place at Medan Selera Metading in Mukah.

He highlighted the collaboration between his side, government agencies, private organisations, community leaders, tribal leaders, Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), associations, and individuals around Mukah.

He mentioned that various activities, including a digital exhibition, entrepreneur sales stalls, poetry recitation competitions, colouring competitions, a people’s stage, and the Sarawak X-tive Mass Sports Program, will be carried out during the three-day event at the Mukah Lecture Hall.

The convoy will continue with the Mukah section, comprising 25 vehicles, 40 motorcycles and 100 participants.

The event was attended by Bintulu Division Resident Nyurak Keti, Sarawak Merdeka Kembara Main Convoy head Dolhadi Marzuki, Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine, and Mukah  Division Resident Kueh Lei Poh.
