SRI AMAN: Merpati FC emerged as champions of the Sri Aman Football League to win the Datuk Francis Harden Trophy after they thrashed Rimong Crocs United 9-0 in the final on Monday.
The team captained by Awang Sifullah Awang Yaman collected 15 points and were unbeaten in their five matches in the league.
With the victory Merpati FC retained the trophy for the second year and received a cash prize of RM5,000 plus medals.
Meanwhile, Englant FC emerged the first runners-up with 10 points, winning three matches, drew once and lost one match.
They received RM3,000 cash prize, trophy and medals. In third placing were Begunan FC who received RM2,000 cash, trophy and medals.
Welfare and Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden who is also Sri Aman Division Football Association gave away the prizes. Also present was Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president Datuk Posa Majais.
