MIRI: The Meteorological Department Malaysia (MET Malaysia) will conduct a scheduled testing of the National Tsunami Early Warning System (SAATNM) siren at Pantai Luak Bay Esplanade from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday (April 23).

Local residents are advised not to panic upon hearing the siren, as it is only a test conducted by MET Malaysia.

MET Malaysia will conduct similar testing at Rumah Daerah Dungun in Terengganu. The testing in Dungun will occur from 9 am to 11 am on the same day.

The purpose of these tests is to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the SAATNM, which plays a crucial role in safeguarding coastal communities against potential tsunamis.

MET Malaysia urged residents in the vicinity to remain calm and cooperate during the testing period.

Any updates or changes to the schedule will be communicated promptly by MET Malaysia.
